The BCCI has unveiled India's squad for the imminent ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2024, slated to commence in the West Indies and the USA on June 1. The roster, announced on Tuesday, sees the omission of notable talents such as Rinku Singh, KL Rahul, Shreyas Iyer, and Ravi Bishnoi, much to the dismay of fans and pundits.

The ICC had stipulated a May 1 deadline for provisional squads to be declared, allowing boards the flexibility to make alterations until May 25. This provision opens avenues for players like Rinku Singh, who find themselves on the reserve list alongside talents such as Shubman Gill, Avesh Khan, and Khaleel Ahmed.

Recalling a similar scenario from the ODI World Cup last year, where Ravichandran Ashwin replaced Axar Patel due to injury, the door remains open for changes in the Indian lineup. For Rinku Singh to secure a spot in the playing XI, the unavailability of players like Hardik Pandya, Shivam Dube, or Suryakumar Yadav would be necessary.

India's campaign in the T20 World Cup kicks off against Ireland on June 5 at the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium, New York, followed by a highly anticipated encounter against Pakistan on June 9 at the same venue. Subsequent matches against the USA and Canada are scheduled for June 12 and 15, respectively.
