India struck immediately after the break, with a direct hit from KL Rahul running out the dangerous Litton Das for 60 off 27 balls. Mohammed Shami then dismissed Shanto in the 10th over, leaving Bangladesh needing 52 runs from the last five overs with eight wickets in hand.

On the other hand, Bangladesh struggled in their first Super-Eight match against Australia. Despite decent performances from Shanto (41) and Towhid Hridoy (40), they managed only 140 runs. Pat Cummins' hat-trick further compounded their woes. Australia chased the target comfortably, thanks to a fiery knock from David Warner, winning by 28 runs via DLS method.
