Jasprit Bumrah has emerged as a crucial asset for the Indian cricket team in all formats, showcasing his skills in both limited-overs and Test cricket. From mastering yorkers in the IPL to shining with tricky variations in international cricket, Bumrah's journey has been defined by resilience and adaptability.
Despite early setbacks, he's known for his skiddy pace, precision, and knack for performing under pressure, earning the trust of captains and teammates alike. His impact goes beyond taking wickets; he brings control and calmness to the bowling attack, making him indispensable for India's global cricketing aspirations.
As Bumrah climbed the ranks, so did India's stature as a fast-bowling side. Today, team India ranks among the top three teams in terms of pace prowess.
However, there was a time when Bumrah, originally from Gujarat, considered moving to Canada for better opportunities. But destiny took him to the Mumbai Indians, altering his path significantly.
"Did you want to move to Canada for a fresh start?" asked Sanjana, Bumrah's wife.
"We've talked about this before. Every boy dreams of making it big in cricket. Every street has 25 players aspiring to play for India. You need a backup plan. We have relatives there. Initially, we thought of relocating as a family, but my mom wasn't keen due to the different culture. I'm grateful that things worked out here. Playing for the Indian team and Mumbai Indians is a dream come true," Bumrah shared on Jio Cinema.
In the match against Royal Challengers Bangalore on Thursday, Bumrah delivered a stellar performance, claiming remarkable figures of 5/21 at Mumbai's Wankhede Stadium.
Bumrah's display was exceptional, with two chances for a hat-trick, elevating him to the top of the purple-cap leaderboard. He now shares the summit with Yuzvendra Chahal, both having secured 10 wickets.
