2016 continued to live up to its godawful reputation when the world lost yet another icon to add to its list. George Michael, who started his career with Wham! in the 1980s and was a legendary musician in his own right, passed away at the age of 53 on Christmas morning.
Michael's manager said the official cause of death was heart failure. His family released a statement through his publicist, reading, "It is with great sadness that we can confirm our beloved son, brother and friend George passed away peacefully at home over the Christmas period."
George Michael was born with good looks and some seriously amazing talent, and went on to grow into a long-time star. His charismatic stage performances made him an absolute favorite with the audience. Consequently, his passing sent shockwaves through the internet.
