"In a time where so much is happening, we wanted to share and thank the person who did this life changing act," the restaurant continued writing on Facebook.
"In memory of a friend"
Disclosing the reason behind the generous gift, the staffers at the Mason Jar Cafe said, "It was in memory of a friend who had recently passed and he was in town for the funeral."
The money was split nine ways among the coworkers, who each took home a little over $1,100 each.
Tipped 30,835% of his bill
"Typically, we'll see every now and then $100," the restaurant's manager told WOOD-TV of tips. "But not ever anything of this gratitude or magnitude," Tim Sweeney continued. The tip of $10,000 meant the man had tipped 30,835% of his bill.

"It was just really an act of kindness that impacted so many people," Paige Mulick, who was working at the restaurant that day, told WOOD-TV.
Mulick, who's a recent graduate of Western Michigan University, said the money will help pay off some of her student loans. She added that there were "so many incredible women working that day, so many hardworking mothers ... just who deserve this."
