'I am willing to serve,' says Elon Musk after Donald Trump hints at cabinet role for Tesla CEO
Donald Trump, who was at a Republican campaign event in York, Pennsylvania, hinted in an interview that he was open to bringing Musk on board in some capacity if he is re-elected. Trump, however, did not specify if one of the richest men in the world would be given a cabinet role or if he would be an advisor to the President.
Tesla and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk has responded to reports of him possibly getting a cabinet role in the next U.S. government if Republican candidate Donald Trump is re-elected in November. Musk posted a photo of himself standing behind a pulpit reading 'Department Of Government Efficiency (DOGE).'

Trump open to having Musk in future cabinet
Earlier, Trump, who was at a Republican campaign event in York, Pennsylvania, hinted in an interview that he was open to bringing Musk on board in some capacity if he is re-elected. Trump, however, did not specify if one of the richest men in the world would be given a cabinet role or if he would be an advisor to the President.
"He's a very smart guy. I certainly would, if he would do it, I certainly would. He's a brilliant guy," Trump said.
Growing bromance between Trump and Musk
This should not come as a surprise, as Musk and Trump have developed increasingly closer ties recently. Last month, Musk announced that he would donate around $45 million a month to a new pro-Trump super political-action committee.
Musk, who has been prolifically posting memes and even unfounded conspiracy theories targeting the Democratic Party and Kamala Harris, had also hosted a Trump interview on X recently.

Musk - from Democratic voter to Trump fanboy
This is despite the fact that for the longest time, Musk identified himself as a progressive who has voted for the Democratic Party.
In 2015, he even said that it would be "embarrassing" if Trump won the Republican nomination, much less the presidency.
Musk has even claimed that in 2020 he voted for Joe Biden. However, earlier this year he wrote on X: "I cannot see myself voting for Biden this time."
