Russian Influencer's Old Video Showing How To Drive 'Abandoned' Military Tanks Goes Viral Now

Amid the ongoing war in Ukraine, a Russian influencer has gone viral for showing how to drive an armoured personnel carrier (APC). In a video from 2021 that is now being circulated, Nastya Tuman can be seen explaining how to drive an abandoned or a free Russian military tank. Just recently too, Tuman has posted a similar video.
Video goes viral when many tanks are abandoned in Ukraine
Tuman, a car mechanic and influencer in Russia, learned how to drive at the age of 18. Then, she began working on cars because she was tired of mechanics ripping her off. Now, she and her husband run multiple YouTube channels and social media accounts where they teach how to fix a car and explain the basics of maintenance.

Tuman's video has gone viral at a time when reports are flooding social media about Russian soldiers running out of fuel or outright abandoning tanks and APCs in Ukraine.
On Feb 28, Russia's state telecommunications regulator demanded that TikTok take steps to censor military content on its platform. The video went viral on Twitter on Monday with some describing it as footage of a Ukrainian explaining how to pilot abandoned Russian military vehicles. That has been found to be untrue.
An old and a new video
The video of Tuman in an APC is actually a year old. On February 23, 2021, she posted a video on Instagram of her driving a BTR-series APC in honor of Defender of the Fatherland Day. The short video walks through the basics of starting up the APC and shows her briefly driving it.
On Feb 27, Tuman posted a video to her TikTok account showing the same footage but with a different introduction. She's pictured outside of the APC. ¡°If you happen to find a free or abandoned armored personnel carrier, here's a life-hack on how to start it,¡± she says in Russian. Then, like in the February 2021 video, she walks through the basics of operating the vehicle.
Current situation
Vladimir Putin has put out conditions on ending Russia's offensive as his forces shelled Ukraine's Kharkiv, killing at least 11. Ukraine, meanwhile, has demanded retreat of all Russian forces during talks between Kyiv and Moscow at Belarus border.
Putin told his French counterpart Emmanuel Macron that the demilitarisation of Ukraine and Western recognition of Russian sovereignty over the Crimean peninsula were prerequisites to ending fighting in Ukraine, the Kremlin said. Talks between Ukraine and Russia lasted about five hours.

The UN has said 102 civilians, including seven children, have been killed in Ukraine. The UN refugee agency has said tens of thousands are fleeing the fighting, with most crossing into Poland as the total count reaches 4,00,000. Others are seeking shelter in Hungary, Romania, Moldova and Slovakia.
