Elizabeth diagnosed with a fatal heart condition
Elizabeth, who was born in St. Albans, faced a heart condition that doctors predicted would give her only two more years to live. Sadly, less than two months after her 70th birthday, she passed away.
Jean, Elizabeth's sister, shared with Jam Press, ¡°She was a very generous person helping family and friends without question. Her wish was for her ashes to be sent into space.¡±
Elizabeth took charge of all the arrangements herself for her space journey. She conducted thorough research and discovered Aura Flights, a company based in Sheffield that specialises in space memorials.
However, she wasn't alone in her space voyage; Elizabeth had also ensured that her ashes were scattered into space alongside those of her beloved cat, Chloe.
Elizabeth & her cat jet off to space
In January 2023, Elizabeth's ashes were dispersed throughout space, with a photo of her attached, and the entire event was captured on camera for friends and family to witness.
With the assistance of Aura Flights, Elizabeth's ashes were sent soaring over 100,000 feet above Earth in a scatter vessel propelled by a specialised stratospheric balloon.
The company's "space memorial" service is priced at ?2950 (equivalent to Rs 310,404), which includes a personalized video and a dedicated memorial page on the website.
"It was a deeply emotional experience, but also incredibly meaningful, knowing that this was exactly what Elizabeth had desired," shared Jean. "She would have been overjoyed with the outcome, as were we all."
Since this remarkable space mission, the demand for space scattering services have reportedly surged.
