The India U19 team delivered a dominant performance in the semi-final against Sri Lanka, securing their place in the final of the ACC U19 Asia Cup 2024. They will now face Bangladesh, who triumphed over Pakistan in their semi-final. Notably, both Sri Lanka and Pakistan were unbeaten before these encounters.
India's road to victory:
After India lost the toss and were asked to field, they restricted Sri Lanka to just 173 runs in 46.2 overs. Chetan Sharma was the pick of the bowlers, taking three wickets, while Kiran Chormale and Ayush Mhatre took two each. Yudhajit Guha and Hardik Raj also contributed with one wicket each.
For the Lankans, Lakvin Abeysinghe's 69 off 110 balls and Sharujan Shanmuganathan's 42 off 78 were the highlights, with the others contributing small cameos.
In the chase for 174 runs, Vaibhav Suryavanshi's quickfire knock of 67 off 36 balls helped India reach the target in just 21.4 overs. Opener Ayush Mhatre scored 34 off 28, while Andre Siddarth C made 22 off 27. Skipper Mohamed Amaan remained not out, scoring 25 off 26, with KP Karthikeya contributing 11 off 14 to help India win by 7 wickets.
Pakistan's loss to Bangladesh:
This win is especially sweet as India began the Asia Cup with a loss to arch-rivals Pakistan. Interestingly, Pakistan lost their semi-final game against Bangladesh.

As for Bangladesh, they chased down the modest total of 117 with ease, thanks to captain Azizul Hakim's unbeaten 61 off 42 balls, securing the victory in just 22.1 overs. Earlier, the defending champions' bowlers dominated, with Iqbal Hossain Emon taking 4/24 as Pakistan were dismissed for 116 in 37 overs. Despite Farhan Yousaf (32) and Mohammad Riazullah (28) showing strong resistance, Pakistan could not get the team going.
