With just days to go, the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 is already facing challenges, most notably the absence of several top players due to injury. The tournament, set to take place from February 19 to March 9 across three venues in Pakistan (Lahore, Karachi, and Rawalpindi) and one in Dubai, has encountered multiple issues, but the injury crisis affecting key players was not one many had anticipated.
Over half a dozen players have already been sidelined from the tournament, which is returning after an eight-year hiatus. Let's have a look at the players who will miss the Champions Trophy 2025.
Jasprit Bumrah - India
The pacer was ruled out of the Champions Trophy 2025 on February 12 due to a lower back injury. The BCCI took to X (formerly know as Twitter) to confirm the news. The last time Bumrah played this format for India was during the the ODI World Cup 2023 final.

Pat Cummins - Australia
On February 6, Cricket Australia confirmed that the Aussie captain would miss the eight-team tournament due to an injury sustained after the five-match Border-Gavaskar Trophy against India. He had previously led his team to victory in the 2023 ODI World Cup.
Josh Hazlewood - Australia
The Aussie pace attack will also miss this fast bowler who has been ruled out due to a hip injury that he suffered during the 3rd India-Australia Test match in Brisbane. The 34-year-old fast bowler has picked up 138 wickets in 91 ODIs played so far.
Mitchell Marsh - Australia
The all-rounder sustained back injury and has been ruled out. According to the statement by Cricket Australia, "Mitchell Marsh has been ruled out of the upcoming ICC Men's Champion's Trophy with ongoing lower back pain and dysfunction".

Anrich Nortje - South Africa
The team will be without their pacer as he was ruled out due to a back injury on January 15. He was replaced by Corbin Bosch on February 9. Nortje last played a this format for the Proteas on September 9, 2023, against Australia in Bloemfontein.

Jacob Bethell - England
The 21-year-old batting all-rounder sustained a hamstring injury which he suffered while playing the 1st ODI in against India at Vidarbha Cricket Association Stadium in Nagpur on February 6.
Mitchell Starc - Australia
The left-arm pacer pulled out of the event on Wednesday (February 12) stating personal reasons. However, it has been reported that was in discomfort with a left ankle issue during the second innings of the 2nd Test played against Sri Lanka last week.

Allah Ghazanfar
The 18-year-old cricketer who has 21 wickets to his name in 11 ODIs played so far will miss the ICC tournament due to a fracture in the L4 vertebra. The Afghanistan Cricket Board on X said, "Afghanistan's young spin-bowling sensation, AM Ghazanfar, has been ruled out of the ICC Champions Trophy due to a fracture in the L4 vertebra, specifically in the left pars interarticularis. He sustained the injury during Afghanistan's recently held tour Zimbabwe, and will be sidelined for a minimum of four months and will remain under treatment during this period. Nangyal Kharoti, who was part of the reserves pool, has been promoted to the main squad for the Champions Trophy. Additionally, Mujeeb Ur Rahman's continues to miss the ODI action, until he has fully recovered."
