It's all over for the Gujarat Titans (GT)! The high-flying side has been eliminated from the title race after losing to the Mumbai Indians (MI) by 20 runs at the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium in Mullanpur, New Chandigarh. With this win, MI will now face the Punjab Kings (PBKS) in Qualifier 2！a clash that will determine who joins the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in the final of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025.

About the chase

Despite the early dismissal of Shubman Gill, GT stayed in the hunt thanks to a solid partnership between Sai Sudharsan and Kusal Mendis. Sudharsan continued his impressive form, playing some breathtaking shots, while Mendis supported well until he was unfortunate to hit his own stumps.

Washington Sundar came in at No. 4 and, along with Sudharsan, kept the chase alive with some crucial big overs. Just when GT seemed to be gaining momentum, MI turned to Jasprit Bumrah！and he delivered. A blistering yorker sent Sundar's stumps flying, even forcing him into a full split in the process.

That breakthrough shifted the momentum in MI's favour. Though Sudharsan kept GT's hopes alive, his dismissal left the lower order with too much to do. Bumrah in the death overs proved decisive as MI sealed a professional win.
