IND W vs WI W, 2nd ODI: Harleen Deol's spectacular maiden 100 sets social media abuzz

After thrashing the West Indies Women in the 1st ODI, the Indian women's cricket team ensured they carried the momentum into the 2nd clash at the Kotambi Stadium in Vadodara on Tuesday. Smriti Mandhana and Pratika Rawal laid a solid foundation with their respective fifties but later it was Harleen Deol¡¯s turn to shine.

The No. 3 batter took 98 deliveries to bring up her maiden international century, smashing 13 fours along the way. She played some elegant strokes, pierced the gaps with precision, and punished loose deliveries, scoring 115 off 103 balls before her dismissal.

Harleen Deol's century:

Harleen joined young opener Pratika Rawal at the crease after the in-form Smriti Mandhana was run out following a brilliant knock of 53 off 47 balls. Mandhana's dismissal brought an end to a 100-run partnership with Rawal, who showcased her fine form by registering her maiden ODI fifty with a score of 76 off 86 balls.

Fans couldn't stop praising how well-deserved this milestone was, especially after the batter had to undergo a knee surgery which she suffered during the Women's Premier League (WPL) 2024.

Long overdue from a batter with so much promise and skill, and here it is finally: A maiden international ton for Harleen Kaur Deol.

To get it after a long injury layoff makes it more special.

Following the stellar performances by the top order and a not-so-great captain Harmanpreet Kaur¡¯s 22 off 18 balls, Jemimah Rodrigues delivered yet another impressive innings. She smashed 52 off 36 balls, including six fours and one six. To finish things off, Richa Ghosh (13 off 6) and Deepti Sharma (4 off 5) played a small cameo as India wrapped up their innings with an imposing 358 runs on the board for the loss of five wickets in 50 overs.
