IPL 2025 Qualifier 2: PBKS drop Rohit Sharma once, but don't repeat GT's mistake; send him back for 8

When everyone expected Gujarat Titans (GT) to win the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 Eliminator against Mumbai Indians (MI), they made a costly mistake ¡ª dropping Rohit Sharma's catch not once, but twice. The batter then made them pay as he smashed 81 off 50 balls.

Now, in Qualifier 2 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, Punjab Kings (PBKS) repeated that same error, letting the 'Hitman' off the hook when he was on just 3 runs. However, Rohit gave PBKS another opportunity ¡ª and this time, they didn't let it slip.

Rohit Sharma's dismissal

After Azmatullah Omarzai dropped him in the 1.5 over, captain Shreyas Iyer handed the ball to Marcus Stoinis. The Australian all-rounder struck on just his second delivery, dismissing Rohit Sharma for 8 runs. It was Stoinis' first wicket in 13.3 overs in IPL 2025.

Stoinis dug it in short, and Rohit went for the pull, aiming for six. However, he picked out deep square leg, where Vijaykumar Vyshak was positioned. After the catch was taken, the Aussie thumped his chest and roared ¡ª "Come onnn!"
