When the BCCI made it mandatory for all players to participate in domestic cricket, fans eagerly anticipated seeing the top stars compete in the Ranji Trophy. Mumbai's squad announcement got everyone excited seeing it included Test captain Rohit Sharma, star batter Yashasvi Jaiswal, along with Ajinkya Rahane and Shreyas Iyer.

Rohit Sharma's dry run continues
Indian Test captain Rohit Sharma, who is playing for Mumbai under the leadership of Ajinkya Rahane, made his long-awaited return to the Ranji Trophy after nearly a decade. However, this highly anticipated return was not exciting as he struggled early on against the movement and bounce. While attempting to work a delivery from Umar Mir into the leg side, he managed only a leading edge, which was easily caught by opposition captain Paras Dogra.

The captain's recent form with the bat has raised concerns, especially after a series of disappointing performances in his last eight Tests, including matches against New Zealand at home and Australia Down Under. Fans will be hoping for a change in fortunes with the Champions Trophy over their head.
