After a series of below-par performances by the Indian captain Rohit Sharma during the Test series, especially against Australia in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, talks of his retirement have already made the news. Amid all this, rumours of a rift in the dressing room have also surfaced, similar to the one during the captaincy transition between Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma. Although pace bowling icon Jasprit Bumrah led the team in Rohit's absence in Perth, it has been reported that multiple players in the Indian dressing room were eager for the leadership role.
It seems that a senior player is vying for the position of 'interim captain' and has branded himself as 'Mr. Fix-It' while making a case to resolve the current issues within the team, according to the Indian Express.
Who is 'Mr. Fix-It'?
The player expressing interest in the captaincy, however, isn't particularly impressed with some of the younger leadership candidates in the team. According to the report, the player believes that certain youngsters still have a long way to go before they are ready for leadership roles.
While the identity of the interim captaincy candidate remains unknown, it is clear that the player is one of the senior members of the team. With Rohit already serving as skipper, the senior ranks are limited to Virat Kohli, KL Rahul, Jasprit Bumrah, and Ravindra Jadeja.
Fans took to X (formerly known as Twitter) to speculate about who could take on the captaincy, with Virat Kohli receiving the most backlash. However, many pointed out that Kohli himself had stepped down from the role, raising the question of why he would seek it again.
Don't think it's about Bumrah....Mr Fix It was referred to someone who wants to be "Interim Captain". Bumrah is going to be a full time Test captain very soon anyway.

Who can become captain after Rohit Sharma?
When it comes to long-term Test captaincy, Jasprit Bumrah currently appears to be the obvious choice as he already led the team to their only win that took place in Perth. With Rohit Sharma expected to retire from the longest format after the series, Bumrah is undoubtedly the top candidate to replace him. The vice-captaincy, however, could be contested between KL Rahul and Rishabh Pant.
The Men in Blue will face Australia in the 5th and final Test of the 5-match series starting December 3. India will need a win in this match to keep their slim hopes alive of making it to the World Test Championship (WTC) Final, where South Africa has already qualified.
