The 25-year-old reached his triple ton in the final session of play against England on the fourth day of the fifth and final Test at Chepauk, Chennai. Karun had his fair run of luck going his way - first he was dropped yesterday by England skipper Alastair Cook on 34 and then today by Joe Root at 217.
After sharing 161-run stand with KL Rahul (199) yesterday, Karun shared a 63-run stand with overnight batsman Murali Vijay (29), 181-run partnership with Ravichandran Ashwin (67) and 142 runs with Ravindra Jadeja (51), dominating the last three associations.

The sweep shot employed by Karun was his most profitable one, playing it with ease and finding the gaps.
His 303 not out is also the highest Test score by an Indian batsman from No 5 position.
