Rishabh Pant's 'Schoolboy Error' Costs India A Wicket. Fans Flood The Internet With Some Hilarious Memes
He collected the ball a little in front of the stumps which meant it was a no-ball.
When we were kids and those of us who took to keeping behind the wickets, one basic rule we were taught was never collect the ball ahead of the stumps. Why? Because it would be declared a no-ball. Of course that problem does not arise when one is standing far back but can be a hassle when the keeper is standing up to the stumps.

Well, Bangladesh were going great guns vs India in the 2nd T20I in Rajkot when Liton Das charged down the track vs Yuzvendra Chahal. He was beaten by the turn and Rishabh Pant easily got him out stumped. But alas! It was not out as it was given a no-ball. Why? Because Pant had collected the ball just in front of the stumps. Since you can't be out stumped off a no-ball, Liton survived.

The internet is not a forgiving place and when you are someone like Rishabh Pant, whom people love to troll, these errors are not overlooked. It was a 'schoolboy error' in the true sense of the term and needles to say fans online did not let him forget it. In fact they got creative. Pant has often been blasted and gotten stick from the management over his reckless shots. Fans too have questioned his right to replace MS Dhoni in the side. This time his keeping was at fault and people pretty much went after him. Poor guy just can't seem to catch a break.
The 22-year-old recently lost his place in the Test side for shoddy batting. With such mistakes, he is not doing himself any favours in the limited overs formats either. Dhoni at 38 is in the twilight of his career and he is expected to be the next man in line. However, if he keeps on missing out with both bat and glove, selectors may have to look elsewhere. Of course it is just a minor setback but the fans decided to use him as meme material and it was just too good.

Though truth be told, it was a basic error and there is hardly any excuse for that. Wonder what Dhoni will think of it? No doubt Pant will be kicking himself because for someone playing at the top level, such an error is not expected. He needs to pick himself up and deliver because the vultures are hovering. One more slip-up and it could be curtains for him. Of course he has time on his side, but it is best not to have to always fight for a place in the side.
