England last won a major trophy when they won the World Cup in 1966. Queen Elizabeth II was present to witness the Three Lions lift the World Cup. England beat West Germany 4-2. But that is the last major title.
Ahead of their first European final, the England squad has got royal approval from the Queen. In her message, the Queen congratulated manager Gareth Southgate and the players for making it to the final and wished them success in the final against in-form Italy.
"Fifty-five years ago I was fortunate to present the World Cup to Bobby Moore and saw what it meant to the players, management and support staff to reach and win the final of a major international football tournament," said the Queen.
A very, very special message for Gareth Southgate and the #ThreeLions.

"I want to send my congratulations and that of my family to you all on reaching the final of the European Championships, and send my good wishes for tomorrow with the hope that history will record not only your success but also the spirit, commitment, and pride with which you have conducted yourselves," she added.
Wembley will be hosting the Euro 2020 final and it is expected to be packed with thousands of home fans backing Harry Kane & Co. to 'bring football home' after years of heartbreak and disappointments. England have so far done well to make it to the final of the tournament and will be hoping to go the distance this year.
