U-19 World Cup's Top Wicket-Taker Ravi Bishnoi Chose Cricket Over Class 12 Boards. Oh Who Cares About Education?

When Ravi Bishnoi was taking on some of the best batsmen at a net session of Rajasthan Royals back in 2018, his father called him to come home and sit for the Class 12 boards.
Ravi had to make a decision and decided to take the advice of his coaches as it was now or never. He thus opted for the game instead of the boards.
That was the year he came into the limelight and his journey really began.
The man took 17 wickets in the Under-19 World Cup and his variations have already had many hailing him as the next big thing in Indian cricket.
One of his coaches at Jodhpur's Spartan Academy, Pradyot Singh revealed what had happened when his father had called that day.
"It was March 2018. He had to wait for his turn and he was not sure if he would get a chance to bowl in the Royals' nets session. After his father asked him to come back, he thought of leaving. But as destiny had it, he stayed put and didn't appear for Boards that year and is yet to sit for the exam," he told TOI.
"Even before the final of the Under-19 World Cup on Sunday he was very calm and composed. You must have seen he never goes overboard with his celebration even when he takes a wicket. He has learnt to handle both success and disappointment," he added.
Despite initial rejection, Bishnoi did not give up and eventually broke into the junior team
Now he is part of the side that made it to the final and finished with most wickets as well. There is every chance he could be playing for the Men in Blue in a couple of years.
As for the decision he took to choose the sport over his education has proved to be the right one. Now of course that does not mean we shun our studies for cricket, but if you are good for something then go for it.
