World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) superstar Rey Mysterio has taken to social media to announce the death of his father and pay tribute to him. Mysterio posted on Instagram on Monday after his match against Chad Gable and Ivy Nile, announcing that his father, Roberto Guti¨¦rrez, passed away on Sunday.

Mysterio thanks father
In a heartfelt post on Instagram, Mysterio thanked his father for giving him the life he has.
¡°You did more than set the example of how to love & maintain a strong marriage and father 4 boys, you were the example and passed every single time until your death with flying colours,¡± he wrote.
¡°Excellent husband, loving father, beautiful grandfather, incredible son & brother, and amazing father-in-law. You checked every list on the box and can honestly say my majority traits I picked up from you. You fought until the very last minute and know that your biggest fear was leaving Moms behind, but I can assure you that she will not be alone and we will always look out for her.¡±
¡°You are with God now and smiling from the heavens while we continue with the real struggle of life until we see you again,¡± he wrote in closing. ¡°You will never be forgotten and will always be loved, RIP Pops.¡±
Mysterio's wrestling legacy
Born on December 11, 1974, in San Diego to Mexican parents, ?scar Guti¨¦rrez Rubio got his ring name Rey Mysterio Jr from his uncle Rey Mysterio, who also trained him to become a wrestler.

Mysterio Jr, who started wrestling at the age of 14, is considered one of the biggest underdogs in WWE history and arguably one of the greatest cruiserweight wrestlers of all time.
Mysterio, who performed for ECW and WCW before joining WWE in 2002, is a two-time World Heavyweight Champion and one-time WWE Champion. He is also a three-time WWE Cruiserweight Champion and has won the Tag Team, Intercontinental, and United States Championships multiple times.
