Exclusive: Will John Cena be turning face again at WrestleMania 41? This is what Vince Russo has to say

John Cena is set to challenge Cody Rhodes for his Undisputed Championship at WrestleMania 41 in what promises to be a compelling match. The Cenation Leader is the heel (villain) heading into the show with his opponent being the face (good guy).
Given the unpredictable nature of pro-wrestling, there is speculation about the former ¡®Doctor of Thuganomics¡¯ turning face at the ¡®Show of Shows¡¯. This may transform Cody Cody into a heel. Veteran Writer and former onscreen talent Vince Russo recently weighed in on a potential double turn at the event and stated that he is not in favour of it.

Vince Russo, who was a part of the creative teams of WWE and TNA/Impact Wrestling, recently commented on the possibility of fans being served a double turn at WrestleMania 41. In an interaction with Indiatimes, he said that ¡®there is always a possibility¡¯ of such things happening. Russo, however, said that he is personally not in favour of Cena turning face again this early in his heel run.

¡°There is always the possibility of anything in wrestling. You can write whatever you want to write. Do I think it's going to happen? No way. You don't do a drastic turn like this only for the heel to be a heel for two months,¡± he said.
Cena turned heel at Elimination Chamber 2025 by attacking Cody Rhodes on The Rock¡¯s instructions. He then appeared on Raw a couple of weeks later and ¡®broke up¡¯ with the WWE Universe. He added that he had been in an ¡®abusive relationship¡¯ with fans over the years.
This is Cena¡¯s final year with the WWE as he is set to retire from in-ring competition in December. He has been with the company since the early 2000s.

The stage, meanwhile, is set for Cena and Cody Rhodes to square off for the Undisputed Championship at WrestleMania 41. It remains to be seen whether The Rock gets involved in the match on D-day. Besides Cena and ¡®The American Nightmare¡¯, the card also includes the likes of Gunther and CM Punk. WrestleMania 41 will be held in Las Vegas in April.
