Apple Launches The All New 5.8-Inch iPhone XS And 6.5-Inch iPhone XS Max
At its launch event tonight at the Steve Jobs Centre in Cupertino, Apple launched a slew of new devices. Foremost among these of course were the new iPhones we expected, though there were a few accompaniments as well. So here are the new phones.
At its launch event tonight at the Steve Jobs Centre in Cupertino, Apple launched a slew of new devices. Foremost among these of course were the new iPhones we expected, though there were a few accompaniments as well. So here are the new phones.
The leaks we¡¯ve been seeing have been spot on, as evidence by Apple¡¯s launch of the iPhone XS and XS Max. The former packs a 5.8-inch Super Retina OLED display at a 1125x2436p resolution at 458 ppi. The latter meanwhile has a 6.5-inch Super Retina OLED display at a 1242x2688p resolution at 458ppi.
Aside from that, the two share pretty much all their features. They¡¯re made of ¡°surgical-grade stainless steel¡± with a gold finish on the front and back, and have an IP68 water resistance. Supposedly, Apple has tested this in ¡°many different liquids,¡± including beer. In addition, both have retained 3DTouch, and pack new Wide Stereo sound. They both also pack a dual-camera system, with a 12MP f/1.8 wide-angle and a 12MP f/2.4 telephoto lens on the rear. On the front is a 7MP f/2.2 RGB lens.
On the inside, the two have the all-new A12 Bionic Chip, the smartphone industry¡¯s first 7nm chip. It packs a 6-core CPU, two of which are high performance and 15 percent faster than the A11 on the iPhoneX, and four high efficiency (50 percent more efficient than its predecessor). The 4-core GPU is also 50 percent faster than the A11 all of which basically translates to your apps loading faster and games running smoother.
All in all, not much has changed from the iPhone X to the XS, except for the addition of a new colour and a boost to the processor. Well, at least some people are excited about the XS Max as a full-screen follow up to the iPhone 5S.
When and how much?
Both devices will be available in 64GB, 256GB, and 512GB variants. Preorders begin September 21, and devices will ship to India September 28.
The iPhone XS will start at $999 (approximately Rs 71,800), while the iPhone XS Max will start at $1,099 (approximately Rs 79,000). Of course, expect those prices to translate to a lot more when the new iPhones make landfall in India, and say goodbye to your savings!
