Airbus Is Stopping Production Of The A380, The World's Largest Passenger Aircraft
European aircraft manufacturer Airbus the creator of the A380 superjumbo has announced that the production of the aircraft will soon be ceased. The decision was inevitable though as Emirates the largest customer had recently reduced its order from 162 to 123 aircraft units Part of the reason is the humongous size of the Aircraft.
World¡¯s largest passenger aircraft has been serving flyers across the world for more than a decade now but that is soon going to change. European aircraft manufacturer Airbus, the creator of the A380 "superjumbo" has announced that the production of the aircraft will soon be ceased.
The announcement seemed to have an equally gloomy effect on the firm as on many other fans of the aircraft. Understandably so, as the A380 has been a top-notch choice for flyers since its inception. The aircraft is spacious, at least a 40 percent more than the next biggest, and emanates a sense of class for all its 500+ passengers in its three-class configuration. "Passengers all over the world love to fly on this great aircraft. Hence today's announcement is painful for us and the A380 communities worldwide," said Airbus.

The decision was inevitable though, as Emirates, the largest customer of the A380, had recently reduced its order from 162 to 123 aircraft units. Part of the reason is the humongous size of the aircraft. While it has been the best option for flights with ample passengers to fill in the seats, the aircraft has proved to be way too costly in other scenarios, wherein smaller models have been more efficient.
As per Airbus, the last deliveries of the aircraft will be made in 2021 and it can be assumed that manufacturing processes in relation to the aircraft will be ceased thereafter. This also means that Airbus will have to relocate the staff dedicated to the production of the A380. The company will start discussion with its partners regarding the estimated "3,000 to 3,500 positions potentially impacted over the next three years." However, it has not been specified as of now as to which locations or jobs will be affected.
