Airtel Added 3.67 Million Users In October, Beats Reliance Jio And Vodafone
A recent report by TRAI has revealed that Bharti Airtel has once again added more subscribers in the month compared to Jio.
The Indian telecom market is as competitive as it gets, with each telecom operator offering a slew of services at really affordable prices while attracting new users on their platform.
One of the biggest players who is known to offer the most value in its plans is Reliance Jio.
The brand that has been instrumental in luring Indians to the world of the internet through its affordable tariff plans. But it looks like it¡¯s losing its charm as a recent report by TRAI has revealed that Bharti Airtel has once again added more subscribers in the month compared to Jio.
TRAI data reveals that Airtel has added over 3.67 million new wireless subscribers in the month of October. On the other hand, Jio only managed to add around 2.2 million new subscribers for its wireless network -- giving Airtel a lead of 1.45 million more subscribers.
TRAI data also revealed that wireless subscribers base of Bharti Airtel topped at 330.28 million in the month of October, up from 326.66 million seen in the month of September. Despite the lead by Airtel, Jio continues to retain the spot of being the telecom operator with most subscribers at 406.35 million wireless subscribers in the month of October, up from 404.12 million subscribers in the month of September.
Sadly, the month of October wasn¡¯t so good for Vodafone Idea (Vi) which saw a drop of 2.65 million subscribers in the month of October alone, bringing down its user base from 295.49 million to 292.83 million.
Another telecom operator that saw a massive chunk of its userbase disappear was BSNL with a drop of 10,215 wireless subscribers, bringing the total to 118.88 million.
When looking at the active user base, Airtel topped the charts again with 96.74 percent active users on the network. Vi came second with 88.78 percent and Jio remained at the third spot at 78.59 percent active users. BSNL had just 61.38 percent active users.
