Intel and Bharti Airtel have announced that they¡¯re remaining up to push the network development of 4G and 5G virtualized radio access network (vRAN) and open radio access network (RAN) technology to enable Airtel and its users to make the most out of 5G tech.
Their collaboration would contribute to the evolution of communications networks from fixed-function equipment to virtualized cloud-native deployments and edge-to-edge cloud communications.
The way this will work is that Airtel's network would run on Intel¡¯s latest Xeon Scalable processors, FPGAs and eASICs, Ethernet 800 series and FlexRAN reference architecture. This would enable Airtel to respond to a variety of consumer requirements for bandwidth and latency.
