Elon Musk Offers $1 Billion To Wikipedia If It Changes Name To 'Dickipedia'
In a post on X, Elon Musk said that he would pay Wikipedia $1 billion if they changed their name to Dickipedia.
Elon Musk is at it again! The SpaceX and X (formerly Twitter) owner recently challenged Wikipedia to change its name to "Dickipedia." In a post on X, Elon Musk said that he would pay Wikipedia $1 billion if they changed their name to Dickipedia.
Why is Elon Musk attacking Wikipedia?
"I will give them a billion dollars if they change their name to Dickipedia," he said. At the same time, he added that doing so would be "in the interests of accuracy."

Later, Musk threw another condition at Wikipedia for changing their name. "@Wikipedia, Do it! You can always change it back after you collect," he wrote while adding that "Dickipedia" would have to stick for at least a year. "I'm not a fool lol," he wrote.
In addition, Musk shared a screenshot of Wikipedia's homepage that stated "Wikipedia is not for sale" with a "personal appeal from Jimmy Wales." He launched another attack at Wikipedia - "Have you ever wondered why the Wikimedia Foundation wants so much money? It certainly isn't needed to operate Wikipedia. You can literally fit a copy of the entire text on your phone! So, what's the money for? Inquiring minds want to know..."

In a follow-up post, Musk also asked if a cow and a poop emoji could be added to his Wikipedia page. "They're always asking for donations, so be careful. They might come to collect," a user wrote in response to Musk.
Another user pointed out how Musk showed "typical rich guy" behaviour. "Only willing to donate if the institution names itself after him," he jokingly wrote.
Where did this war begin?
In May this year, Wikipedia founder Jimmy Wales criticised Elon Musk for censoring the critics of Turkish president Recep Tayyip Erdogan in Turkey, a day before the country's presidential election. In a post later, Wales called out the billionaire for failing to support free speech after he gave in to Turkey's demands. In the same post, Wales said that Wikipedia pushed back against a similar demand earlier.
In response, Musk wrote - "Did your brain fall out of your head, Yglesias? The choice is have Twitter throttled in its entirety or limit access to some tweets. Which one do you want?"

Wales replied to Musk, saying that "What Wikipedia did: we stood strong for our principles and fought to the Supreme Court of Turkey and won. This is what it means to treat freedom of expression as a principle rather than a slogan."
After this, Wikipedia was banned in Turkey for more than two years. What do you think about Elon Musk's strange offer to Wikipedia? Let us know in the comments below. For more in the world of technology and science, keep reading Indiatimes.com.
