Elon Musk Wants To Replace Parag Agrawal As Twitter's Interim CEO, Reports Claim

Elon Musk wants to become the CEO of Twitter, multiple reports claim. The Tesla and SpaceX founder wants a seat at Twitter's table temporarily after buying the social media giant for $44 billion.

As Musk gets closer to securing funds to ensure the deal goes through, he wants to expand his CEO roster. Mind you - Musk is the world's richest man and the CEO at Tesla. He also heads the Boring Company and SpaceX.

Parag Agrawal, Twitter's Indian-origin CEO who began fulfilling his duties in November will hold on to his role until the sale is officially complete. On Thursday, CNBC first reported that Musk is planning to become Twitter's CEO temporarily.

Elon Musk really wants Twitter

On the same day, Elon Musk listed a group of high-profile investors who are expected to fund $7.14 billion for Musk's Twitter takeover. These include Oracle's co-founder Larry Ellison and Sequoia Capital.

So far, Musk has secured commitments for $13 billion in loans from 19 investors, Reuters reported. Saudi Arabia's Prince Alwaleed bin Talal had said that Musk would make an "excellent leader" for Twitter, and later agreed to provide $1.89 billion for the deal.

Musk wants to make Twitter a place where no content is filtered, making it the champion of free speech. But social media platforms in 2022 aren't safe without some censors in place - owing to dangerous misinformation, spam bots, money-making schemes, and worse, hate speech.

Let's be honest, though. Musk has a history of initiating grand tricks like this Twitter takeover and not seeing it through. For instance, he refused to take up a seat on Twitter's board last minute in April. In 2018, Musk said that he had secured funding for $72 billion to take Tesla private, but decided not to move forward.
