It's finally happening guys! 'Harry Potter: Wizards Unite' is finally launching this weekend. So in just a little while, you can grab your phones and go out hunting for your favourite creatures and characters from JK Rowling's world of fantasy.
Wizards Unite has been in development for a long time, originally teased way back in November 2017. It's been developed by Niantic, the studio that became infamous for their role in the Pokemon GO fever.
Similarly, Harry Potter: Wizards Unite is also an augmented reality game. You're a member of the Statute of Secrecy Task Force, which means your job is to explore the world and locate "Foundables". These could either be magical artifacts, or important characters from the Potterverse. Real-world locations will translate to magical spots within the game, so you're encouraged to go out exploring with your smartphone.
There's also a bigger focus on the story and lore this time around. Teases shared by Niantic also reflect a more traditional RPG with voice acting, class systems, skill trees you upgrade, and potion brewing.
The game had previously launched in a closed beta in Australia and New Zealand. Now, in a tweet, the developers have announced it's coming to the rest of the world.
The worldwide launch of Harry Potter: Wizards Unite begins this Friday, June 21! Keep your eyes peeled and wand ready for more information as the game goes live in your region soon. #WizardsUnite pic.twitter.com/ckk4s4mi8a

A worldwide rollout will begin tomorrow, starting in the US and UK. Hopefully, that means we'll see an India launch by next week. More importantly though, it's launching simultaneously on both iOS and Android.
We saw originally how successful Pokemon Go was, and that was a franchise not nearly as universal as Harry Potter. Additionally, it also seems to be a slightly more complex game, so even the hardcore players should be satisfied.
