Apple bargaining hard with suppliers
The report talks about a research note by renowned analyst Ming-Chi Kuo who is suggesting that Apple has been pushing a higher bargaining pressure on its suppliers as using Sub-6GHz 5G tech is increasing the company's costs by $75 to $85.
A simpler battery tech to cut costs
Of all the components that go into an iPhone, Apple is trying hard to reduce the maximum costs from the battery section. Kuo states that Apple is moving to a simpler and smaller design that also involves fewer layers than before.
The report claims that this reduction in battery tech will make the battery in fact 40-50 percent cheaper than the batteries found in iPhone 11 series. Moreover, in the next year, Apple will reduce the costs further by 30 to 40 percent (compared to the iPhone 12) with the iPhone 12s.

Apple will also be bringing two varieties of the base-variant iPhone 12, which will be a first, from Apple.
Leaked design mockups have already shown that the smallest iPhone will be smaller than the iPhone SE 2020 but larger than the iconic iPhone 5s. The devices will also roll back to a boxy aesthetic with a glass back.
