Jeff Bezos Doesn't Want Racially Abusive Customers Shopping On Amazon
Jeff Bezos, the CEO of Amazon, shared an email from a customer called Dave
Just like several companies in Silicon Valley, Amazon has been very vocal about its support for the #BlackLivesMatter movement.
The company had posted on Twitter stating, ¡°The inequitable and brutal treatment of Black and African Americans is unacceptable. We believe Black lives matter. We stand in solidarity with our Black employees, customers, and partners, and are committed to helping build a country and a world where everyone can live with dignity and free from fear.¡±
And today, the world¡¯s richest man and CEO of Amazon, Jeff Bezos has made it clear for the kind of customers he doesn¡¯t mind losing.
Last week, Jeff Bezos responded to an email sent by an angry customer complaining about Amazon¡¯s stance on #BlackLivesMatter with the message be spread on its website.
Replying to this email, he made the customer understand why being a part of this movement is important now more than ever.
This message also exposed Jeff Bezos' email ID to the world and now it is being bombarded with hate mails from people with racial slurs.
Today, he shared an email from one Dave who used foul language telling him that he was cancelling his order after knowing about Jeff Bezos¡¯s support with the movement while stating that he won¡¯t be the only one to do that.
This email was shared on Instagram where Bezos wrote in the caption, ¡°There have been a number of sickening but not surprising responses in my inbox since my last post. This sort of hate shouldn¡¯t be allowed to hide in the shadows. It¡¯s important to make it visible. This is just one example of the problem. And, Dave, you¡¯re the kind of customer I¡¯m happy to lose.¡±
Needless to say, it's good to see Jeff Bezos calling out what's bad and drawing the line at racial abuse.
Last week, we saw Google¡¯s Sundar Pichai as well as Apple¡¯s Tim Cook speak up about the movement and gave their support to the revolution.
Along with this, Pichai has also announced that Google will be offering $12 million in funding to organisations that are working to address racial inequities.
