New WhatsApp Features Coming In 2021: Multiple Device Support And Web Calls

WhatsApp has had a busy year in 2020 as the messaging platform kept on rolling out new features for its user base across the globe.

Going into 2021, the chat app is ready to bring in more of such developments right from the start.

Three such features will reportedly appear very soon on WhatsApp next year. A new report by WABetaInfo indicates that WhatsApp¡¯s beta for iOS 2.21.10.23, the first beta update in the new year, will introduce some of these updates.

Paste multiple images

The most anticipated of these is the ability to copy and paste multiple images and videos into a particular WhatsApp chat. As spotted by WABetaInfo, the feature, upon roll out, will allow users to select multiple images or videos from their photo gallery and ¡®Export¡¯ and ¡®Copy¡¯ these.

The users can then send these to their WhatsApp contacts, by pasting the selected images or videos in their respective chats.

Audio, video calling for WhatsApp Web

WhatsApp users are well versed with the audio and video call feature on the Facebook owned chat app. The ability, however, has been restricted to the WhatsApp app on smartphones as of now. A new update expected to arrive early next year is going to change that.

WhatsApp will introduce audio and video call support to its browser version ¡®WhatsApp Web¡¯ for its users working on desktops and laptops. It is being reported that the feature will initially see a limited roll out in WhatsApp beta version next year.

WhatsApp multi-device support

Multiple device support has been rumored for WhatsApp since long and early next year might just be the time when the company finally rolls out the update. The feature will enable users to use their WhatsApp account on more than one device simultaneously.

The feature will address the recent shift to work from home for the corporate world where users generally indulge in multiple work devices.

A report by WABetaInfo reveals that WhatsApp will update its Terms and Privacy Policy early next year and users of the chat app will have to comply with the same to keep using the services. The report mentions that the update will be rolled out on February 8 and those failing to accept it will have to delete their account from the chat app.

In addition to these updates, WhatsApp will likely keep working on smaller upgrades to the app in the form of new stickers and more, all to be available in due time in 2021.
