Made In India Luxury Electric Car With 500 Km Range Aims To Revolutionise Mobility In The Country
Extinction MK1 will be marking its debut on December 4 as the first ever EV offering by Pravaig a Bengaluru based electric car maker. The car boasts of high performance numbers too with a top speed of 196 kmph and an acceleration of 0 to 100 kmph in 54 seconds. The utility however will be restricted for now as PravAig is aiming to make the car available only for commercial fleets in hotels.
Automobile OEMs have been vying to bring the perfect electric vehicle to the international markets. Other than the giants of the industry, several startups have time and again impressed with breakthrough innovations in their versions of EVs. Most of these, however, are borne out of the US and China.
So when a homegrown firm comes out with a state-of-the-art electric vehicle that promises the best in the field and is completely made in India, it is bound to grab attention. That is what Pravaig is doing, with the launch of its first ever premium electric car right around the corner.
Extinction MK1 will be marking its debut on December 4, as the first ever EV offering by Pravaig, a Bengaluru based electric car maker. The company is being run by Siddhartha Bagri as the CEO, COO Dhawal Vinayak and CSO Ram Divedi. As for what is known about their upcoming luxury electric car, it seems to be an impressive addition to the EV options in the Indian market.
For instance, the Extinction MK1 promises to go up to 504 km on a single charge, up to 80% of which is gained within 30 minutes of fast charging. The car boasts of high performance numbers too, with a top speed of 196 kmph and an acceleration of 0 to 100 kmph in 5.4 seconds. All this, through a 150 kW power output giving 2400 Nm torque at its wheels.
Other than the promised specs that will rank it high in an EV comparison, the Extinction MK1 comes in an attractive package too. The electric car incorporates a coupe-like, futuristic design complete with a continuous LED bar that is fast becoming the marquee of premium electric vehicles. As of now, the car is a two-door, four seater luxury vehicle with a frontal look that somewhat resembles that of Lucid Air.
The utility, however, will be restricted for now, as Pravaig is aiming to make Extinction MK1 available only for commercial fleets in hotels and like on a subscription based model. It is, hence, mainly meant for chauffeur driven passengers.
The right time
The motivation behind the upcoming electric car is just what it is supposed to be - cut the use of fossil fuels in a world that desperately needs such environment-friendly and sustainable solutions. Pravaig wants to do that with style and believes that the time is right for India to make the transition.
¡°EVs are not the future. They are the present,¡± said Dev Tyagi, a Pravaig well-wisher. ¡°Even though people are skeptical about the use of EVs today, the fact remains that EVs are already here and are very much the need of the hour. The corresponding infrastructure is being developed across the country and people can easily find charging stations for use, at least in major cities.¡±
¡°With Extinction MK1, we wanted to fill a void of made-in-India offerings in the Indian EV market. The premium electric car will come with state-of-the-art features to make sure we achieve this goal,¡± Tyagi said.
While Pravaig attempts to address the rising air pollution in India with its EV, the fact of the matter remains that being a premium offering, Extinction MK1 will not directly boost EV adoption in the country. The switch to EVs is needed on a much larger scale to make an impact but it seems for now, this transition will be initiated through such appealing top tier vehicles.
