Samsung CEO Admits They Rushed The Galaxy Fold Release Before It Was Fully Ready For Use

When thinking of Samsung's colossal disasters, the top spot is definitely held by the Galaxy Note 7. However, what comes at a close second is the recent debacle with its most-awaited flagship, the Galaxy Fold.

With a folding display, the smartphone could close itself like a book, and while it felt too good to be true, it was. The device started to develop problems in the hands of the reviewers with dust particles getting trapped underneath the plastic display and getting damaged.

With this, Samsung found it best to hold the launch of its $2,000 device until it was completely issue-free, and we've been waiting for an update ever since. However, recently, co-CEO DJ Koh, in an interview with Independent, has revealed that he missed something on the foldable smartphone.

He says, "I do admit I missed something on the foldable phone, but we are in the process of recovery." He further added, "At the moment, more than 2,000 devices are being tested right now in all aspects. We defined all the issues. Some issues we didn't even think about, but thanks to our reviewers, mass volume testing is ongoing."

With many rumours hinting that the device could be cancelled, Koh puts these rumours to rest by stating that the phone will indeed launch, however, there isn't a specific date for the re-launch set yet.

Galaxy Fold gets two displays- a small 4.6-inch cover Super AMOLED display with a resolution of 1680x720 pixels and a second foldable 7.3-inch Dynamic AMOLED display with a resolution of 1536 x 2152 pixels. Loaded with top-of-the-line Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 chipset and paired with a whopping 12GB of RAM/ 512GB of onboard storage this smartphone is as feature-loaded as it gets, as per today's standards.

Samsung's battle was with the next best foldable smartphone in the market- Huawei Mate X, however, seeing the damage on the Galaxy Fold, it felt it was best to test its device a little bit more and delay its launch by three months. The device is already in its final testing phase now expected to be revealed sometime in September.
