Sony PlayStation 5: See What The Future Of Gaming Consoles Looks Like
Here¡¯s everything Sony unveiled about the PS5 so far, including exclusive games.
A few weeks ago, Sony showed us its controllers for the PS5 and what it was capable of doing, making us wait to get a glimpse of the console.
Last night, after showcasing the games that will run on the upcoming PlayStation 5, Sony finally revealed what the console would look like along with a bunch of other cool things that no one at the event anticipated. Here¡¯s everything Sony unveiled about the PS5 so far.
PS5 has new design
Just like every PlayStation console in the past, the PS5 design is strikingly different from its predecessor. And this year they¡¯ve adopted a more organic design language as opposed to a boxy industrial design.
Standing vertically with blue LEDs adding to the aesthetics, the console is a striking contrast to the Xbox Series X that was teased by Microsoft a while back --its a whole lot sleeker and in my opinion, does look pretty cool.
PS5 stands up and lies down
In case you were wondering if the console only supports a vertical orientation, you¡¯re in luck as the console can be laid down to its side with a provided base.
So you might not have to remodel your entertainment centre just to accommodate the PS5.
PS5 two editions
The console is coming in a conventional disk and a digital-only variant -- just like what Xbox did with the Xbox One S consoles sometime back.
Goes without saying that the digital-only variant is a whole lot sleeker and symmetrical in aesthetics.
PS5 has 4K UHD Bluray player
The disc variant of the PlayStation5 will bet a 4K Ultra-HD Bluray Player -- Something that the Xbox had since the Xbox One X, yet it is great to see Sony finally jumping on the bandwagon.
PS5 has ultra-fast SSD
While Sony didn¡¯t give us much information about the performance side of things in this event, it has previously been talking a lot about their revolutionary SSD that is going to change game load times on consoles. Leaks have revealed that it¡¯s going to be a custom 825GB SSD that will deliver an IO Throughput 5.5GB/s (Raw), Typical 8-9GB/s (Compressed).
PS5 has ray tracing graphics
One way this generation of consoles would be revolutionary and truly game-changing is with the adoption of ray-tracing graphics.
In case you didn¡¯t know, ray tracing allows for the light to realistically bounce back on gaming subjects in real-time, making the shadow and lights in the game look a whole more life-like. We saw this at play in various games that were showcased at the event.
PS5 Pricing and Availability
Sony didn¡¯t tell us much about the PS5 at this event, and this included the pricing and availability of the console. It is expected to come out sometime before the holiday season begins, however it surely won¡¯t come cheap.
Leaks reveal it will be priced around $600 which is approximately around Rs 46,000, but expect the PS5 to be more expensive in India.
