This feeling resonated by several of Pichai¡¯s followers on the microblogging site, while many were surprised that he took time out to watch the cricket match.
Even Prime Minister Modi lauded the efforts of the Indian cricket team through his tweets.
This isn't the first time Sundar Pichai has often shown his fascination and love for cricket, especially the Indian cricket team. He had his fanboy moment meeting the legendary Sachin Tendulkar at The India-England match at Birmingham in 2019, where Sachin tweeted stating ¡®Kya Sundar Pic Hai¡¯.
To this, the Alphabet-Google CEO responded like a true cricket fan, ¡°As Mahi Bhai would say, ¡®Bahut Badhiya¡¯ Pleasure watching the game with you, brought back great memories, till next time.
In a conversation with students at the SRRC in New Delhi, Pichai shared how he loved cricket and even wanted to get into cricket while keeping Sunil Gavaskar as his idol, "I did dream of being a cricketer like so many Indians. I used to be a huge fan of Gavaskar when he was playing and later, Sachin (Tendulkar) when he played. I always had a dream."
Other than cricket, Pichai is also a fan of football and is a fan of Barcelona as well as followed players like Lionel Messi.
In fact, he was even glad when in July 2020, amidst COVID-19 pandemic, cricket matches commenced after a long break, where he expressed his excitement stating, ¡°Yep, glad cricket is back!¡± through a tweet.
