Swiggy To Commence Drone Food Delivery Trials In Delhi And Bengaluru

Food delivery company Swiggy has now announced a partnership with Garuda Aerospace to commence trial runs using drones to deliver groceries in Delhi NCR and Bengaluru to assess the viability of using drones in the company's grocery delivery service Instamart.
The drones will be used to restock inventory between seller-run dark stores and a ¡®common customer point¡¯. From here, a delivery partner would deliver it to a customer allowing for efficient deliveries even during peak-hour traffic.
According to Garuda Aerospace, the development is in response to the request of the Swiggy proposal that surfaced a few weeks ago. The food delivery giant received 345 registrations in total from which only four were selected.

The drone company currently has its manufacturing facilities in Gurgaon and Chennai and were inaugurated recently by Prime Minister Mobi during the launch of the Garuda Aerospace Kisan Drone Yathra where 100 drones took off simultaneously in 100 villages across the nation.
