World's 1st 5G Video Call Successfully Completed By This Smartphone, Which You Can Buy In 2019
The worlds first 5G video call was made on a R15 Pro-based 5G smartphone and lasted for more than 17 minutes on a 5G network. Engineers operating out of Oppos six R&D institutes worldwide reported smooth connectivity and low latency during the video call. This is a major milestone according to Oppo as they try to become one of the first manufacturers to launch a fully-5G enabled smartphone in 2019.
Before the large-scale rollout of 5G networks around the world starting next year, smartphone manufacturers are busy ticking off milestones on 5G usage.
Not wanting to be left behind, Oppo announced something rather interesting earlier over the weekend -- the successful completion of the world's 1st ever 5G video call across different parties through a smartphone app.

Announcing to the world on the milestone 5G video call, Oppo Vice President Shen Yiren took to the microblogging platform Weibo (Chinese version of Twitter) alerting the world of the world's first WeChat video call using a 5G smartphone.
At 12:57 AM local time in Shenzhen, engineers from six OPPO R&D institutes worldwide participated in the video call using WeChat, a popular Chinese social media app, with an inaugural message of "Hello OPPO, Hello 5G".

Engineers operating out of Oppo's six R&D institutes worldwide reported smooth connectivity and low latency during the video call. For the 5G test, OPPO used Keysight¡¯s UXM test set and 5G New Radio (NR) network emulation solutions for protocol and RF performance validation in sub-6GHz frequency bands (FR1).
This is a major milestone according to Oppo, as they try to become one of the first manufacturers to launch a fully-5G enabled smartphone in 2019.
