A Twitter Executive Got A Court Injunction To Stop Elon Musk From Firing Her
Sinead McSweeney, Twitter Ireland's global vice president of public policy, has managed to get a temporary injunction from the High Court of Dublin to keep her from getting fired.
As Twitter's woes expand and contract on a daily basis under the leadership of Elon Musk, it appears that a Twitter executive was ahead of the learning curve. Sinead McSweeney, Twitter Ireland's global vice president of public policy, has managed to get a temporary injunction from the High Court of Dublin to keep her from getting fired.
McSweeney claimed that she was locked out of her work accounts and Twitter's Dublin office after she failed to respond to Elon Musk's e-mail that urged employees to submit to a rigorous work culture or to be fired, The Irish Times reported.
After sending the e-mail on November 16, Elon Musk gave employees a day to confirm whether they wanted to keep working at Twitter. All those who didn't click "yes" were treated as people who had resigned.
McSweeney says she didn't hit "yes" because it didn't mete our a plan for employees who decided to stay. At the same time, her severance package didn't meet her "contractual entitlements." On November 18, McSweeney received an e-mail that confirmed her "voluntary resignation."
An injunction against Twitter
On Friday, McSweeney was granted an injunction against Twitter, which protects her from getting fired, but doesn't reinstate her job. The case will be revisited next week.

Twitter's lawyers acknowledged that McSweeney wanted to stay at Twitter, adding that they would restore access to her work accounts. But McSweeney is still locked out. McSweeney says that she's getting "mixed messages" from Elon Musk about staying or leaving, claiming that he's been firing employees and then rehiring them "with no apparent logic."
After taking over Twitter, one of the first things Musk did was firing half of the company's workforce. Not much later, he asked some employees to return. Now, it appears that Twitter is done with layoffs, and wants to start hiring to replace ones that were let go.
