Elon Musk's New Paid Verification System For Twitter To Roll Out Next Week

When Elon Musk confirmed on Twitter that the new verification system, as part of company's subscription service Twitter Blue would cost $8 (about Rs. 662) a month, the social media platform imploded.

Now, it appears that the new verification system would begin rolling out before next week. Elon Musk hopes that paid verification badges will help reduce the number of fake accounts while generating revenue for the company at the same time.

According to Bloomberg, users can get verification badges on Twitter for $8 per month starting next Monday (November 7). This doesn't mean that it'll cost Rs. 662 in India, for Musk has already said that the cost of verification will be "adjusted by country proportionate to purchasing power parity."

Paid verification on Twitter

People who are already verified on Twitter are slated to get a multi-month grace period, although it's unclear how long that'll last for. Now, verified users can continue to be verified on Twitter or lose the badge.

Those who pay $8 monthly fee to Elon Musk's Twitter will get priority in replies, mentions, and searches. It seems that Musk will also let these users post longer videos and audio files with lesser ads.

At the same time, Twitter is rolling out the edit feature for all its users this week. As of now, the feature is only available for Twitter Blue users who pay $4.99 a month. This service isn't available in India.
