WhatsApp Gets Custom Avatars: Here's How To Make One
Meta's CEO Mark Zuckerberg announced today that WhatsApp is getting avatars.
Move over emoji, WhatsApp just got avatars! Meta's CEO Mark Zuckerberg announced today that WhatsApp is getting avatars.
"We're bringing avatars to WhatsApp! Now you can use your avatar as a sticker in chats. More styles coming soon across all our apps," Zuckerberg wrote on Facebook.
Avatars come to WhatsApp
Now, WhatsApp users can create a personalised avatar and use it as their WhatsApp profile photo, in addition to 36 custom stickers available to use.
"Your avatar is a digital version of you that can be created from billions of combinations of diverse hair styles, facial features, and outfits," WhatsApp wrote in a blog post. On WhatsApp you can now use your personalized avatar as your profile photo or choose from one of 36 custom stickers reflecting many different emotions and actions.

"Sending an avatar is a fast and fun way to share feelings with friends and family. It can also be a great way to represent yourself without using your real photo so it feels more private," the company added.
WhatsApp has promised to add style enhancements for avatars, including lighting, shading, and hair style textures.
It's evident that WhatsApp is taking notes from its sister companies Instagram and Facebook that both offer avatars to users, adding more customisation to one's profile.

Avatars on WhatsApp will begin rolling out to users today. If you haven't got it already, don't fret, for it should be on its way to your device very soon. Don't forget to update your app to the latest version, be it on iOS or Android.
Create your avatar on WhatsApp
To create an avatar on WhatsApp, you need to tap Settings >> Avatar >> Create Your Avatar. Follow the steps on-screen and then tap Done.
To make your avatar your profile photo on WhatsApp, head over to Settings >> click on your profile photo >> Edit >> Use Avatar.
