Elon Musk Neuralink: Elon Musk Will Share Neuralink Brain-AI Implant Update On August 28
Elon Musk has announced on Twitter that Neuralink make an announcement on August 28.
If science-fiction movies have taught us something it¡¯s that one day, humans and computer will merge together to become a single entity -- sort of a cyborg.
While this sounds like a fantasy to many, researchers are working tirelessly to make this imagination a reality, and one of those players is Elon Musk with its Neuralink.
Elon Musk has announced on Twitter that it will be giving the world an update on its computer-brain interface that Neuralink is developing on August 28. The company was founded in the year 2016 and CEO Jared Birchall is currently looking at the operations right now. The research is being conducted in partnership with UC Davis.
Neuralink is envisioned to help people suffering from neurological disorders who are unable to physically move or do things on their own, could control computer right from their mind and help them function in a normal way. The application is more advanced than installing electrodes in the brain and claims to be way safer too.
We saw a major advancement in Neuralink last year when the Elon Musk company showcased the implant involving flexible threads that would be inserted into a patients brain with the help of surgical robots.
It had already had successful testing on mice and apes and was planning on testing this on humans this year.
Recently, Elon Musk shed some more light into the tech that was at play, while responding to a tweet by Cathie Wood, a renowned tech investor, stating, ¡°The profound impact of high bandwidth, high precision neural interfaces is under-appreciated. Neuralink may have this in a human as soon as this year. Just needs to be unequivocally better than Utah Array, which is already in some humans & has severe drawbacks.¡±
While speaking about Neuralink, Elon Musk added, ¡°It will ultimately be used to make up for entire lost sections of the brain due to stroke/accident/congenital. Don't want to get too excited, but the potential is truly transformational for restoring brain & motor functions. There is no other way to do it in my opinion.¡±
He also exclaimed, "Wait until you see the next version vs what was presented last year. It's *awesome*." So, hopefully, we¡¯re getting to see something truly amazing this year.
