COVID-19 World: These Inflatable Face Shields Will Protect And Make You Look Cool
The face shields are larger than conventional face shields and it offers 180-degree protection
Looking at the state of the world, it doesn¡¯t seem like COVID-19 is going to go away from our lives anytime soon.
This is prompting designers and innovators to find ways to live a normal life while maintaining social distancing and all other prerequisites to prevent contracting the novel coronavirus.
We saw the cool spacesuit-like contraption as a replacement for PPE for people stepping out, offering better ventilation and protection. And now, reports reveal that a designer company in Italy has created a reusable face shield that is loads better than the plastic visors we¡¯ve seen.
Designed by Alessio Casciano Design, Angeletti Ruzza Design Studio, and MARGstudio, the design is called Soffio, which literally means to puff or blow in Italian and it is exactly what it looks like.
The face shields are larger than conventional face shields and it offers 180-degree protection from the novel coronavirus. The contraption rests on the shoulders with straps around the head for a firm fit.
Unlike conventional face shields, it offers space to actually allow the wearer space to insert the spoon to eat.
They intend for these to be handed out to diners at a restaurant. They come in these tiny packets and the wearer has to blow air into it to expand. This can be taken home and reused too.
Designer Annalisa Grasselli, in a conversation with Business Insider, stated, "I saw proposals for expensive, difficult to maintain and ugly plexiglass mazes separating costumers like inmates in a prison. Those solutions kill the conviviality customers are looking for when they wish to spend quality time with their friends."
The designers claim that this can be made from recycled plastic and could cost as less as one euro or approximately Rs 80.
It is important to note that this is still in the concept stage, and we don¡¯t know when or if it will roll out to people, but one thing is for certain, if we intend to dine out and have a good time like we used to, such measures will become more common.
