Amid South Korea's martial law unrest, Dua Lipa set to Dance The Night away in Seoul
Dua Lipa's upcoming concerts in Seoul, South Korea slated for December 4 and 5 will proceed as planned despite the country reeling from the aftermaths of the declaration of martial law. The Levitating singer was earlier reported to have been stranded in Seoul.
South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol sent shockwaves across the world after he declared martial law on Wednesday, accusing the opposition of threatening the country's democracy and national stability. The late-night pronouncement caused nationwide unrest and even shook the K-pop industry, with reports suggesting artists from the major companies, including BTS' label, HYBE, have been getting continuous calls to cancel their forthcoming events.
An official from an entertainment company confirmed to TenAsia that many concerts and festivals have been halted in the wake of martial law. While the decision was reversed within hours following a strong rebuke from the National Assembly and widespread protest, the country is still reeling from the aftermath of the sudden decree. However, pop star Dua Lipa remains unfazed by the tumultuous turns of events and will proceed with her concerts scheduled for December 4 and 5, 2024.
