Varanasi Street Dog Receives Passport And Visa For The Netherlands, Set To Depart India With Dutch Woman

Jaya, a female street dog from Varanasi in Uttar Pradesh, is poised to fly out of the country with a legitimate passport and visa, along with her new Dutch owner.

Meral Bontenbel, an Amsterdam resident who has taken care of Jaya, told ANI on Thursday that she had always wanted to bring home a pet and fell helplessly in love with the street dog from Varanasi on a visit to the temple town.

What's her plan for the Indian street dog?

"I went to Varanasi because I wanted to explore the city." Jaya approached us when we were roaming around aimlessly one day (together with her fellow travelers). She was incredibly sweet, and I fell in love with her. She tagged along with us after I cuddled her. She began following us around. "Then she was attacked by another dog on the street one day," Bontenbel recalled.

She went on to say that a security guard moved forward to save Jaya from the other mongrel's grip. "A guard stepped forward to save her. I had no intention of adopting her at first. "I just wanted to get her off the streets," Bontelbel explained to ANI.

When is the dog flying out?

She also stated that she needed to extend her stay in India for six months in order to obtain a passport and visa for her beloved Jaya. "I'm overjoyed to finally be able to bring her along with me. It was a drawn-out procedure. I had to wait six months for her to reach this point. "I've always wanted a dog, and I fell in love with her the first time she approached me," she added.
