Breaking away from NewJeans? Minji, Hanni, Danielle, Haerin, and Hyein create new Instagram account
On December 14, 2024, NewJeans members Minji, Hanni, Danielle, Haerin, and Hyein shared their first update on their new Instagram account. They assured fans and showed support for those attending protests in South Korea.
While the drama between NewJeans, Min Hee Jin, HYBE, and ADOR is still ongoing, the five members¡ªMinji, Hanni, Danielle, Haerin, and Hyein¡ªwho terminated their contract with the company (at least from their side) have given their fans a new update. On December 14 KST, the K-pop idols posted their first update on their new Instagram account, @jeanzforfree.
What did the girls share?
In a series of Instagram stories, the girls assured fans, saying, "It's really us!" and "We're gonna be living here," promising to stay connected with their followers. The members also urged their fans to dress warmly, take care of their meals, and avoid getting sick during the winter season.
They also posted another update on Instagram, expressing support for fans attending the protest rally for President Yoon Suk Yeol's impeachment. The girls announced that all K-pop fans, regardless of their favorite artists, could visit any listed location for prepaid food and drinks, as long as they had a light stick.
This kind gesture follows similar acts of support from artists like IU and Girls' Generation's Yuri. South Korean citizens are set to gather for a large protest rally in front of the National Assembly building in Yeouido, Seoul, ahead of the second impeachment bill vote scheduled for later today (December 14 KST).

KMCA threatens NewJeans:
Amid all this, the Korean Music Content Association (KMCA) called out NewJeans over allegations of "tampering" within the industry. In a statement released on December 13, KMCA labeled NewJeans' decision to terminate their contract as an attempt at "tampering," stressing the need to stop such practices to preserve the integrity of the K-pop industry.
The statement also referenced FIFTY FIFTY, suggesting that the three former members were equally at fault, having ended their contracts under the influence of an external producer, similar to the NewJeans members.
