V's career as a soloist
V, the lead singer of the wildly popular K-pop supergroup BTS, officially debuted as a solo artist in 2023 with two singles: Love Me Again and Rainy Days. His solo debut, though delayed, was a significant milestone in his career, showcasing his global popularity beyond his association with BTS.
In his debut solo album, Layover, dropped on September 8, 2023, the singer explored various genres, including R&B, neo-soul, indie pop, and K-pop, showcasing his versatility as an artist. The album broke records with 2.1 million copies sold in its first week, the highest first-week sales by a K-pop solo artist in history.
Before this, V had already made a name for himself through his solo tracks under BTS, such as Winter Bear, Stigma, Singularity, and Inner Child. He has also sung OSTs, Sweet Night, Christmas Tree, and Even If I die, it's you for K-dramas Itaewon Class, Our Beloved Summer, and Hwarang: The Poet Warrior Youth, respectively.
