Smith was reportedly behind the wheel of a pickup truck that struck and killed 77-year-old pedestrian Dorothy Dobbins on June 8 in Nashville. Authorities confirmed that Dobbins was walking inside a clearly marked crosswalk when the crash occurred.

The 77-year-old lady died!
She was rushed to Vanderbilt University Medical Center, but sadly did not survive.
According to the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department, the preliminary cause of the accident is Smith¡¯s failure to yield the right of way. Let that sink in, a beloved country boy, fresh off the stage, is now being investigated for a traffic violation that ended someone¡¯s life. No alcohol. No drugs. Just a deadly lapse in judgement. And while Smith is not currently facing charges, the investigation is far from over.

One day after the tragedy, his lawyer, Worrick G. Robinson, tried to patch the bleeding with a carefully worded statement. Robinson said that Smith is ¡°deeply saddened¡± by the incident and is keeping the victim¡¯s family in his thoughts. He also confirmed that Smith is ¡°fully cooperating¡± with authorities as the investigation continues.
