India is set to field its largest-ever contingent at the Doha 2025 Diamond League leg, with four athletes competing across various disciplines, all eyeing strong finishes against elite global competition.
Doha is set to host a star-studded lineup on Friday, May 16, which includes at least seven Olympic champions and several world medallists. The capital of Qatar is gearing up for the third leg of the Diamond League ¡ª a key stop on the road to the 2025 World Athletics Championships in Tokyo.
This leg of the Diamond League will see India's largest-ever contingent ¡ª four athletes ¡ª representing the country across different disciplines, all aiming for top finishes.
Indians in action
Neeraj Chopra returns to Doha, aiming to build on his impressive track record at the Diamond League. The Olympic and World Champion claimed won at the 2023 edition with a throw of 88.67m and secured a runner-up finish in 2024 with 88.36m.

Joining him once again is Kishore Jena, who placed ninth in last year's competition. Jena will be looking to sharpen his form and deliver a stronger performance on the international stage this time around.
Interestingly, these two Indians will be facing global talent, including Anderson Peters of Grenada, a two-time world champion, Jakub Vadlejch of the Czech Republic ¡ª last year's Doha winner ¡ª as well as Julian Weber and Max Dehning of Germany, Julius Yego of Kenya, and Japan's Roderick Genki Dean.
In other events, Gulveer Singh is set to make his Diamond League debut in the men¡¯s 5000m. The national record holder will be eager to test himself against a world-class field.
Joining him is Parul Chaudhary, India¡¯s national record holder in the women¡¯s 3000m steeplechase, who will line up against a competitive international lineup in the middle-distance race.

The meet will be streamed in several regions on the Wanda Diamond League YouTube channel. Coverage begins with the men's discus throw at 17:48 local time (GMT+3) / 20:18 IST, followed by the main programme and global broadcast at 19:00 local time / 21:30 IST, starting with the women's 400m.
