'Alien' sea creature washes up on Sydney beach
A resident in Sutherland Shire in New South Wales found a slug-like life form lying on a beach and posted pictures to Facebook.
"Does anyone know what this is? Have seen a number of these washed up this week," the local wrote. as per Yahoo News Australia.
"They are everywhere...I was also wondering what they are," the second resident was quoted as saying.
Although the creature might look like it's from another world, Sea Life Sydney Aquarium aquarist
Harry Masefield
told Yahoo News that it is actually a sea hare, a slug-like marine mollusc found along the southern coast of Australia.
The species, which can grow up to 40cm long, camouflages themselves as rocks to stay safe from other animals eating them.
They can be identified by their large wings and jelly-like bodies.
Bizarre creature with a 'human mouth' washes up on Bondi beach
An unusual creature washed up on Australia's Bondi beach left many people confused and amused. According to a report by Storyful, Drew Lambert discovered a strange-looking animal washed up on the shore of Australia's Bondi Beach during a jog on April 5.
Lambert took a video of the odd find and posted it on Facebook, captioning the clip: "Can someone please tell me what this weird alien-like creature is that was washed up on the beach at Bondi today."
The beachgoers also mentioned how the unusual-looking animal was a half metre long with human-like lips and skin like a shark. "I've lived in Bondi for 20 years and I've never seen anything like this before," he added.
'I just looked at it... what the hell, does this fish have human lips on it? It looked like it was puckering up for a kiss,' Lambert told Yahoo News.
Initially, he thought the creature was a shark because it had a tail and skin, but he quickly dismissed that idea because it did not have a dorsal fin.
"I thought [but] the mouth is on the underside. And it's got grey leather-like skin like a shark. But it doesn't have that dorsal fin at the top like a shark so I was really confused," he said.
