Firefighters have been using planes and helicopters to douse the raging wildfires. According to experts, the present condition in Australia is the worst in many years. According to an AFP report, the fire ravaged an area of over 2,000 hectares (4,942 acres) with authorities battling to bring it under control.
Koalas are one of the most revered species in Australia. Tragic bush fires in the country have already burnt alive hundreds of koalas, and wildlife rescuers have declared the loss as a 'national tragedy'.
Rescuers and civilians are contributing in their own ways to help the koalas.

The woman even took off her top to save the crying animal who had been injured by the flames.

In the video, one can see that the woman rushes towards a koala which appears to be severely burnt and takes her top off to carry it. She then hurriedly tries to douse the little animal¡¯s body with water, while the koala squeals in pain. After that, with the help of crew around, she wrapped the koala in a blanket. In the video, the little animal is visibly in pain. Imagine, this is what hundreds of koalas in Australia are going through - they are burning alive.
The woman took the injured animal to the Port Macquarie Koala Hospital.
According to CNN, the hospital said that the koala has been treated for its burns and is still in a 'very serious condition'.
Crews in New South Wales are battling fires covering more than 3.2 million acres, as you read this. The state's fire service says that they have seen more fires this season than the past three seasons combined.
The woman running through burning fires and even taking her clothes off to rescue a koala, is an inspiring example of how every life matters.
